While his work touches on socio-political themes, including rural land reform, Bambo emphasizes the simple observation of life: “I like to watch people and animals and then put what I see on paper. I want to show people what our country looks like. I paint about its goodness.”
Bambo has held numerous solo exhibitions in South Africa and participated in group shows internationally, including Norway, the USA, France, Hungary, the UK, and Mexico, where he also taught for two weeks. He has received several awards, including the 1997 Volkskas Bank Atelier Award, the 1999 ABSA Bank Millennium National Art Competition, and was a finalist for the 2003 Brett Kebble Art Award. Primarily a printmaker, Bambo works in linocut at Mimi van der Merwe’s studio.
